Mental health and law enforcement (Bekah Bock)
On Aug 23, our guest speaker was Bekah Bock, LCSW. For the past 23 years, Bock has worked with persons with chronic and severe behavioral health issues. Since 2014, she has been the clinical partner of the Mobile Outreach Safety Team in Carson City, NV, where she specializes in crisis de-escalation and welfare checks for vulnerable persons. She is a certified Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) coordinator, and collaborates with the Carson City sheriff’s office to offer an annual CIT academy for first responders. She is also a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team. We asked her to tell us about the officers, how they are trained, how she works with them, and how she sees them and their work.
