Dear Beloved Community,

As many of you know, last week on Wednesday February 19th, I had the privilege to be part of an Interfaith Press Conference to respond to the threats and rising fear of mass deportations. There were about 43 faith organizations and dozens of religious leaders publicly reaffirming our commitment to sanctuary to ensure safety and belonging for all people. Together we represented that God’s executive orders are clear -- Love Thy Neighbor, Welcome the Immigrant, and All People are Sacred. Below the "Giving Sunday" information is a link to KRON4’s youtube page of their coverage, for those that may have missed it.

This coming Sunday, March 2, Rev. Polly will be preaching on "The Magic of Findhorn." Findhorn is an eco-spiritual community in northern Scotland founded in the 1970's and famous for an exuberantly abundant garden created on sand dunes. The story of who and how this came about lives in the intersection of the two readings for the morning: Genesis 1:9-13 (The Third Day) and Mary Oliver's poem "The World I Live In." If you believe amazing things can happen, the results might just surprise you. We will also celebrate communion on Sunday.

As always, I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.

Peace and blessings!

-Jorge

March's Giving Sunday offering is for Community of Peace, VA (Stephan Waligur).

The Church Council recently clarified what monies in the collection plate go to our Giving Sunday recipient each month. On the first Sunday of the month (the "Giving Sunday"), the whole plate goes to the designated nonprofit. Any other time during the month you can contribute by way of a check with the name of the nonprofit in the memo line.

Pentatonix sings "Imagine"

Quote of the week

“We re-enter this world as sacred space when we love life fiercely, and, in the name of love, protect the goodness of our intricate web of life in all its manifold forms. We recommit ourselves to this world as holy ground when we remember the fullness of life that is possible through our communities, our life-affirming rituals, and our love of beauty, of truth, of goodness.” - Rita Nakashima Brock
