Dear Beloved Community,

This Sunday’s scripture is John 2:13–25, alongside Mary Oliver’s “Where Does the Temple Begin, Where Does It End?” We’ll reflect on Jesus’ fierce response to what’s happening in the temple, and what that reveals about love, holiness, and justice.

Together we’ll ask: Where is sacred space today? Is it only inside a sanctuary, or does it extend into creation. Into the trees, the birds, the sky? And if Jesus points to the temple as his own body, what does that mean for how we honor and protect our bodies, and one another’s? I hope to see many of you this Sunday as we listen for God’s invitation to defend what is holy, with courage and care.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Peace and blessings!

-Jorge

P. S. March's Giving Sunday collection is for "Our Turn", CHC's pastor-discretionary fund. We used to just pass the basket when someone needed help, but these days the need sometimes can't wait until the next Sunday. So the Council decided to pre-fund "Our Turn" so that Jorge has immediate funds available.

On the first Sunday of the month (the "Giving Sunday"), the whole plate goes to the designated nonprofit. Any other time during the month you can contribute by way of a check with the name of the nonprofit in the memo line.

Hard times require furious dancing. Each of us is the proof.” - Alice Walker in Hard Times Require Furious Dancing
