Dear Beloved Community,
This upcoming Sunday, I’ll be preaching on Luke 18:1–8, where Jesus tells the parable of the persistent widow who refuses to give up on justice. Together, we’ll explore what it means to worship a God who is moved , a God who feels with us, wrestles with us, and responds to our cries. Through this story, and the image of Jacob’s night of wrestling, we’ll discover how God’s compassion invites us to be moved too , to let our hearts burn with divine love and to say “no” to injustice in all its forms. Come ready to be inspired by the God who is not distant or unmoved, but deeply present, deeply affected, and deeply loving.
See you Sunday!
Peace and blessings!
-Jorge
P. S. October's Giving Sunday collection is for College Heights Church! It was intended for whichever of our capital projects came first, and it looks like that will be the retaining wall replacement. Hopefully we can get it done before the winter rains begin.
The Church Council recently clarified what monies in the collection plate go to our Giving Sunday recipient each month. On the first Sunday of the month (the "Giving Sunday"), the whole plate goes to the designated nonprofit. Any other time during the month you can contribute by way of a check with the name of the nonprofit in the memo line.
