This Sunday, March 12: Zoom service

MK Nelson will be our guest preacher this Sunday, with a sermon titled "Fat Ashes". Her text is John 4:5-14, the story of the Samaritan woman at the well. The Giving Sunday collection for March is for Stephan Waligur's Community of Peace in Virginia.

Daylight Savings Time starts this weekend so be sure to set your clocks ahead an hour on Saturday night.

Alice Bishop Celebration of Life

Saturday, March 11 at 2 pm we will gather at church to remember and celebrate the life of Alice London Bishop, one of our long-time "church pillars." Alice did almost everything in her years at College Heights, from teaching Sunday School to playing piano for worship to managing the famous rummage sale every year. She was active in the women's group, the weekly meditation group, and served on the Council as the Financial Secretary. The church enjoyed many annual picnics out at the Pescadero home that she and Bruce built, with a worship service in the redwood grove and after-lunch croquet with the gophers. Join us on Saturday to share stories and remember the love.

Lenten Taize on Friday

Join us in person this Friday, March 10, at 7:30 pm for our monthly Taize service. Chants with a Lenten focus, prayers, silence, and a reading from St. Symeon the New Theologian, an Eastern Orthodox monk and poet who lived a thousand years ago. ("New" is a relative term.)

The Zoom room will also be open and the bulletin is online.

Crossan Easter Videos

Noted progressive Christian scholar John Dominic Crossan has prepared a series of four illustrated video lectures on the Easter stories, using material from his books "The Last Week" and "Resurrecting Easter." We will gather on Zoom to watch these videos together (followed by discussion, naturally) on Thursday evenings in March, beginning on March 9 at 7 pm. The first lecture is titled "Metaphors for Jesus' Exaltation." All are welcome.
