Dear Beloved Community,
We had such a wonderful church picnic service this past Sunday. We gathered for a sweet and meaningful outdoor service on the lawn, celebrated communion together, and then shared in a beautiful time of community, conversation, and plenty of good food.
This Sunday, we are blessed to welcome Rev. Melissa Tumaneng, our Associate Conference Minister, as our guest preacher. She will be sharing a timely message on “how Artificial Intelligence affects our inner spirit, and what Jesus has to say about the remedy.”
This is such an important topic for us to reflect on together. We are living in a time when technology, especially Artificial Intelligence, is changing how we work, communicate, learn, and even understand ourselves. In the middle of all this change, our faith invites us to pause and ask deeper questions: What is shaping our spirit? What is forming our hearts? And how does Jesus call us back to what is human, holy, compassionate, and life-giving?
It will be a meaningful and important conversation for our time. You’re not going to want to miss it.
Peace and blessings,
Jorge
P. S. June's Giving Sunday collection is for the UCC's fund called Strengthen the Church. It helps local conferences and the national setting, as well as new churches, youth ministries and innovation in existing congregations.
On the first Sunday of the month (the "Giving Sunday"), the whole plate goes to the designated nonprofit. Any other time during the month you can contribute by way of a check with the name of the nonprofit in the memo line.

Homebrewed Christianity is holding a 4-week online course called "The Future of Religion" with Sr. Ilia Delio and Dr. Tripp Fuller. This is a broad overview of the development of religion from early rituals through the Axial Age, and then projecting into the future as evolution continues. There is one lecture and one streaming Q&A session per week. It dovetails nicely with the AI discussion that will be happening in the Book Group this month. The class just started last week and everything is recorded, so you're not too late. Check it out here. Sliding scale, starting at $0.
Quote of the week
“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue .... Live the questions now."
-- Rainer Maria Rilke
