Dear Beloved Community,
This Sunday, we will gather and honor migrants, our neighbors, our siblings, and beloved children of God. We will hold in prayer those who have crossed borders seeking safety, dignity, work, family, and hope. We will remember that migration is not just a political issue; it is a deeply human story, filled with courage, heartbreak, faith, and the longing for a life where people can flourish.
We will also take time to honor those who have died through the violence of immigration enforcement, including those killed by ICE and those who have died in detention and custody. As followers of Jesus, we are called to grieve these lives, to say their dignity matters, and to refuse to let their stories disappear. This Sunday is an invitation to lament, to remember, and to recommit ourselves to the sacred work of justice, mercy, and welcome.
See you Sunday!
Peace and blessings,
Jorge
P. S. May's Giving Sunday collection is for the California Clubhouse. Aspire House, formerly California Clubhouse, is a social and vocational rehabilitation program in San Mateo County that builds supportive community, dignity, and pathways to recovery for people living with mental illness.
On the first Sunday of the month (the "Giving Sunday"), the whole plate goes to the designated nonprofit. Any other time during the month you can contribute by way of a check with the name of the nonprofit in the memo line.
